ACA Marketplace Health Insurance, Explained and Handled for You
Navigating healthcare.gov on your own is confusing by design. We compare ACA marketplace plans side by side — matched to your doctors, your prescriptions, and your budget — so you enroll with confidence, not guesswork.

You may owe less than you think for health coverage this year.
Many Florida and Georgia residents who shop the ACA marketplace on their own either miss the subsidies they qualify for or choose the wrong plan tier because they did not have the right information at the right moment. Our job is to change that outcome. We assess your premium tax credit eligibility, review your prescription costs and doctor network, and walk you through every option before you make a decision — all at no cost to you.
That last point is worth saying clearly: our service is free to you. Brokers are compensated by the carrier after enrollment. You pay nothing extra for having a licensed agent in your corner, and you lose nothing by calling us before you enroll.
What the ACA Marketplace Actually Covers — and How Plans Are Structured
The federal marketplace — healthcare.gov — is used by both Florida and Georgia residents to shop for ACA-compliant individual and family health plans. All marketplace plans cover the same ten essential health benefits required by the Affordable Care Act, including preventive care, prescription drugs, emergency services, and mental health treatment. What varies between plans is how costs are shared between you and the carrier.
Plans are organized into four metal tiers:
- Bronze: Lower monthly premiums, higher out-of-pocket costs when you use care. Best suited for people who are generally healthy and want coverage primarily for catastrophic events.
- Silver: Mid-range premiums with moderate cost-sharing. The only tier eligible for cost-sharing reductions (CSRs) if your income qualifies — which can make Silver plans significantly more valuable than they appear at first glance.
- Gold: Higher premiums, lower out-of-pocket costs. Well-suited for people who use their coverage regularly or manage ongoing prescriptions.
- Platinum: Highest premiums, lowest cost-sharing. Available in some markets but not universally offered.
Choosing the right tier is not simply a matter of picking the lowest premium. It depends on how you actually use healthcare, what your prescriptions cost at each tier, and whether you qualify for cost-sharing reductions that only apply to Silver plans. We review all of this before recommending anything.
Do You Qualify for Help Paying for Your Plan?
Most people who are uninsured or buying coverage on their own are eligible for some level of financial assistance — and many do not know it.
Premium tax credits reduce your monthly premium based on your household income relative to the federal poverty level. For 2025, enhanced subsidies remain in place that extend eligibility further up the income scale than many people expect. Individuals and families earning between 100% and 400% of the federal poverty level have historically qualified, and recent policy changes have made credits available to households above that threshold as well.
Cost-sharing reductions are a separate form of assistance available only to Silver plan enrollees whose income falls within specific ranges. They lower your deductible, copays, and out-of-pocket maximum — effectively giving you a Gold-level plan at a Silver-level price.
We review your eligibility for both before you enroll. There is no charge for this review and no obligation to enroll through us.
Key ACA Enrollment Dates for Florida and Georgia
Both Florida and Georgia use the federal marketplace at healthcare.gov. Neither state operates its own exchange.
Open Enrollment:
November 1 through January 15 each year. Coverage effective January 1 for plans selected by December 15. Coverage effective February 1 for plans selected between December 16 and January 15.
Special Enrollment Periods (SEPs):
Outside of open enrollment, a qualifying life event triggers a 60-day window to enroll or change plans. Common qualifying events include:
- Loss of employer-sponsored coverage
- Marriage, divorce, or legal separation
- Birth or adoption of a child
- Permanent move to a new coverage area
- Gaining or losing a dependent
- Changes in income that affect subsidy eligibility
If you have experienced any of these events recently, contact us. We can determine whether you are within your enrollment window and help you move quickly.

What It Looks Like to Work With Us on ACA Enrollment
We do not hand you a list of plans and wish you luck. Here is how a typical ACA consultation works:
1. Subsidy and Eligibility Review
We start by reviewing your household income, tax filing status, and any existing coverage to determine what premium tax credits and cost-sharing reductions you may qualify for. This shapes everything that follows.
2. Prescription and Network Analysis
Before recommending any plan, we check whether your current medications are covered at each tier and whether your preferred doctors are in-network. This step alone prevents the most common and costly enrollment mistakes.
3. Side-by-Side Plan Comparison
We present your best options clearly — premium, deductible, out-of-pocket maximum, and estimated annual cost based on your expected usage — so you can make an informed decision rather than a guess.
4. Enrollment, Handled
We submit your application through the federal marketplace on your behalf. We confirm your coverage is active and follow up if anything requires attention.
5. Ongoing Support
Our relationship does not end at enrollment. We are available for plan questions, billing issues, and annual reviews during open enrollment — and we actually pick up the phone.

Frequently asked questions
Questions We Hear Before Every ACA Enrollment
Is it really free to use a broker for ACA enrollment?
Yes. Brokers are compensated directly by the insurance carrier after you enroll. You pay the same monthly premium whether you enroll through a broker or on your own — but with a broker, you have a licensed professional reviewing your options, checking your subsidy eligibility, and handling your application. There is no fee and no markup. Can I enroll in an ACA plan if I am self-employed?
Yes. Self-employed individuals and sole proprietors are among the most common ACA marketplace enrollees. Without employer-sponsored coverage, the marketplace is typically your primary option for comprehensive individual health insurance. Depending on your net income, you may also qualify for significant premium tax credits. What is the difference between ACA marketplace plans in Florida versus Georgia?
Both states use the federal marketplace at healthcare.gov, so the enrollment process is the same. The carriers and plan options available differ by state and by county. We are licensed in both Florida and Georgia and work with the carrier networks in each market — so we can help you find the right plan regardless of which state you are in.What happens if I miss open enrollment?
If you do not have a qualifying life event, you will generally need to wait until the next open enrollment period. However, qualifying life events — including job loss, marriage, birth of a child, and certain income changes — trigger a Special Enrollment Period that gives you 60 days to enroll. Contact us as soon as a life event occurs so we can confirm your eligibility and move quickly within your window. How do I know which plan tier is right for me?
The right tier depends on how often you use healthcare, what prescriptions you take, and whether you qualify for cost-sharing reductions that only apply to Silver plans. We review all of these factors with you before recommending a tier. Choosing by premium alone is one of the most common and costly mistakes ACA shoppers make. Can I keep my current doctors if I switch ACA plans? That depends on the specific plan and its network. We check your preferred providers against each plan's network before making any recommendation. This is a standard part of every consultation we do — not an afterthought.
